The Necessity of Well Water Filtration
There was a time long ago in which the only wells were safe. For centuries people have known groundwater to have the safest, cleanest, best liquid in the world. However, those times are long gone. These days even deep wells can hold dangerous surprises making well water filtration a must for all people.
Many people think that a well is simply a hole in the ground. In truth, a well is a pipeline that taps into a vast layer of the earth that can span for hundreds of miles called a H2O table. This layer can be shallow, deep, or even embedded within rocks, but the principal is the same.
Liquids in this layer are not static; it mingles with itself. Having people tap into these underground reserves only makes the things mingle faster as it is drawn up for us to use. This means that any pollution that gets into the wells will spread far and wide very fast.
Oil, gasoline, kerosene and other toxic substances we use every day tend to be stored underground. Unfortunately, these storage tanks break down over time leading to poisons seeping into the groundwater and wells. All it takes is a single drop of gasoline and a hundred gallons of H2O could be tainted.
Improved farming techniques are wonderful for growing food, but they threaten wells with pollution. Shallow underground reserves are already showing signs of being polluted with DDT, pharmaceuticals, and other toxic byproducts of large scale farming as rain has washed the toxins right through the soil and into our wells.
Not even aquifers with their thick beds of rock are safe. Between cracks in the stone letting toxins seep into higher layers, and pollution slipping in from old pipes to deeper layers, aquifers are starting to carry lead and pesticides.
Even if you are lucky to have an untainted well, there are still naturally-occurring minerals that may be harmful to yourself or your home. Although many people just “bear with” foul smelling sulfur, ignore hard H2O causing their water heaters to short out, or even drink only from bottles because their wells are tainted with lead, you do not have to be one of them!
Just adding a simple well water filtration system will prevent dangerous chemicals, toxic pollutants, and even naturally occurring undesirable minerals from getting into your home. The cost of filtering your well is much lower than the price of replacement pipes and heaters or expensive medical bills that can come from not using a filter.
