Wellness Challenge – Make it a Way of Life

When you hear the term wellness challenge, you may think that this has to do something with the goal of a corporate towards its employees or the goal of a government towards its citizens. You are right, of course. But why not apply this to your own life? This idea itself may sound challenging!

What do I mean by wellness challenge? We know what a challenge is. But do we know enough about wellness? If we ask people to define what the idea wellness means to them, we will get widely divergent answers. We can’t fault people for this. After all, every human being is entitled to have his or her own idea of wellness. But every one will agree on one point. It is on the need for creating wellness in their lives.

For the purpose of this article, I will confine the concept of wellness challenge to just three vital areas of our life.

- Physical Health: Obviously, physical well being is the most fundamental requirement of every one. But you need to be clear about your concept of well being. Granting that perfect health can be a theoretical concept, you may have to accept a few limitations. But you need to decide which are the ones you are going to accept. For example, if you are a little overweight, will you want to reduce it or will you accept it and get on with life? If you choose to live with your overweight problem, it means that you are not taking up the wellness challenge!

- Mental Health: This is something difficult to define. But you can identify the areas that need improvement. You may like to improve your emotional control or you may like to find a way to overcome stress. There can be higher level objectives like personality development, bettering your communication skills etc.

- Living a life of fulfillment: This is at a much higher level and people who are happy about their physical and mental health may still feel that they are missing something in life. This may lead them to pursue religion, philanthropy, spirituality etc. It is difficult to describe this wellness. This is a feeling which some people may experience at some point in their lives

We are fortunate to be living in an internet era and we can get any kind of guidance we want from the internet. That is one reason why you can take up the wellness challenge and improve the quality of your life to a very great extent, within a short time, just by practicing what you learn from some of these sources.
